Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

The rapid growth of cities has a positive impact on the development of the society.

disagree

1.Granted, the growth of cities improves people’s material life.

2.However, the growth of cities brings a negative impact on sustainable social development.

3.Additionally, the development of cities poses a threat to the preservation of traditional culture.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

People can learn as much by watching movies as they can learn by reading books.

1.Firstly, movies have various fascinating methods that will disturb students' concentration.

2.Secondly, the books help boost student's imagination and creativity.

In order to help students become environmentally responsible adults, some schools consider offering weekly outdoor classes in which students have opportunities to visit local parks or reserves. Teachers will lead them to explore nature and learn about the environment. Do you think it is worthwhile to take such outdoor classes once a week?

1.Firstly, outdoor classes may be difficult to organize in bad weather and thus may be subject to various environmental constraints.

2.Secondly, there are potential safety risks when students are outside the classroom, which could require additional staff to ensure their safety.

3.Lastly, attending outdoor classes may require additional resources such as transportation and materials, which might result in higher costs for the school.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement:

Parents today spend too much time trying to help determine the futures of their children; children should be allowed to make their own choices.

Some schools are planning to require students(aged 6-18) to attend school over the course of four days rather than the more customary five days each week and study for an extra ninety minutes each day. Do you think it is a good idea and why?

参考思路:it is not a good idea

1.It is admitted that by altering the traditional school schedule, schools can save money.

2.The prolonged school hours per day is also a critical disadvantage of the four-day schedule. First, longer days are tough on students.

3.Second, longer days mean wearier teachers.

A university has money in its budget to do ONE thing to improve its facilities for students: it can either improve the quality of the technology (for example, computers and printers) that it provides for students. OR it can redesign spaces where students hold club meetings and gather with friends in their spare time to make these areas more comfortable and appealing. Which one do you prefer?

参考思路:improve the quality of the technology

1.Up-to-date technologies are certainly helpful to a student‘s study performance.

2.In addition, students would be proud of their schools that have state-of-the-art facilities and thus be highly motivated to study with high standards to fit in the high-quality environment.

Imagine that you work for a company that has money in its budget to do ONE thing to help its employees improve their work: it can either improve the quality of the technology (for example, computers and printers) that employees use, OR it can redesign its offices so that employees will have more comfortable spaces to do their work and have meetings.

Which idea would you prefer, and why?

参考思路:improve the quality of the technology

1.Up-to-date technologies are certainly helpful to a staff’s job performance.

2.In addition, staffs would be proud of their companies that have state-of-the-art facilities and thus be highly motivated to work with high standards to fit in the high-quality environment.

Nowadays, it is said that government should give financial support to people. However, people often argue about which group the government should give support. Which of the following groups do you think is the most important for the government to support?

A. older people who no longer work (eg. those who are more than 70 years old)

B. young families with small children

C. workers who have recently lost their jobs
